The major goal of KDubiq-CA is to set up a homogeneous platform
for building
intelligent ubiquitous knowledge discovery systems in a highly
interdisciplinary research environment. This has been achieved
during the KDubiq project life by providing a common perspective
of the new, emergent research area - KDubiq = Ubiquitous
Knowledge Discovery -.
Relevant research done on learning from experience
in many neighbouring disciplines include:
- machine learning, statistics
- geo-, spatio-temporal information systems
- knowledge discovery in heterogeneous databases or distributed
data mining
- media, pervasive computing, and ubiquitous data mining
- data mining in security, surveillance, and privacy protection
- high-performance computing, mobile and ubiquitous computing
- ambient intelligence and probabilistic robotics
- human computer interaction (HCI) and cognitive modelling
We have achieved to integrate the research results from these
interdisciplinary, interrelated fields by working with the KDubiq
Community in different form of activities in oder :
- to identify new research challenges — heterogeneity,
spatial distribution, multi-modality, grid computation, multi-platform
computation, security and privacy issues
- to stimulate the emergence of ideas for long-term research
- to derive strategic guidelines for long-term research: a blueprint
will be produced and periodically updated
- to identify, contact, and bring together as much as possible
of the disciplines that contribute to the many facets of ubiquitous
knowledge discovery
- to identify and foster new emergent technologies and innovative
applications that can be transferred to industry and public
sector organizations
- to provide a forum for academy, industry and the public sector
to establish collaborations, by maintaining information service
for scientists, industry people, and practitioners
- to familiarize researchers in the field with recent results
in the cognitive sciences
